Volleyball deafeats Lindenwood-Belleville in four sets

The Baker Wildcats earned a volleyball victory against the Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University in four sets on Saturday.

Baker improved to 3-12, while the Lynx fell to 8-6 on the season.

The Wildcats had a rocky start in the first set losing 25-16. Lindenwood-Belleville had 13 kills in that set compared to Baker’s eight.

Baker showed immediate improvement in the second set, beating the Lynx 25-23.

The third set proved to be just as close with Baker coming out ahead 25-22. Jenna Sackman helped the Wildcats get on an early roll with a 4-0 start while serving. Sackman also had 32 assists throughout the four sets.

The fourth and final set had Baker hitting .600 and finished with the Wildcats being victorious 25-19.

Baker had nine total team blocks, and sophomore Olivia Brees had five block-assist as well as nine kills.

Sophomore Ashley Sparks led the Wildcats with 17 total kills. Senior Elizabeth Arnold and Sackman each had seven kills.

Baker’s next match will be against Heart rival No. 8 ranked MNU on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Collins Center.
