The Baker men’s golf team came to play in its first tournament of the season.
The Wildcats traveled to Fulton, Mo., for the William Woods University Show Me Summer Shootout and showed some NCAA Division II schools that NAIA golfers could sign off on some low scores.
Senior Gavin Tatrn led the way for the ‘Cats, posting a university-best 73 on Monday followed by a 74 on Tuesday.
“I was very satisfied,” Tatrn said. “Especially because I was busy doing an internship and was working full-time this summer, so I didn’t get to play as much. So to come out and play that well was really pleasing.”
The entire varsity squad shot in the 70s on the first day and the team’s total was 607.
"We're absolutely happy with how the team played," Tatrn said. It was a good test to see where we are at right now."<br/>&#160;
