The Baker University Spirit Squad is competing Saturday at the HAAC Spirit Squad Championships at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo.
This is coach Jeremy Webb’s first year at the HAAC competition as the head cheerleading coach at Baker.
“We just want to compete with the other teams in the competition,” Webb said. “Show them the ability that we have and put our Baker program back on the map again.”
The spirit squad, which consists of the dance team, cheerleading squad and mascot WOWzer, will each be performing a short routine.
“These competitions are a lot different than other competitive sporting events,” dance captain Alex Hess said. “Judging is much more subjective.”
