The Baker cross country team will kickoff its 2010 season with the Maple Leaf Invitational Saturday in Baldwin City.
The race will take place at the Baldwin City golf course, with the women starting at 10:30 a.m. and the men at 10:55 a.m.
Head coach Zach Kindler has high expectations for this weekend and the season. The women’s team is the Maple Leaf Invitational defending champions and hopes to have another good showing and win this year.
Kindler believes the biggest competition this weekend will be nationally- ranked Kansas Wesleyan University.
The Wildcats’ goal for the season is to run well every race and be undefeated at home.
“We are hosting the conference finals here in Baldwin this year, so if we can meet our goal of staying undefeated at home, we can do really well this year and should be able to break into the national rankings,” Kindler said.
