The Baker University volleyball team had a disheartening week winning only two of five matches in the MidAmerica Nazarene Invitational Friday and Saturday and losing a conference match to William Jewell College Tuesday.
Head coach Kathy Allen said the team could have easily won five matches but failed to capitalize in key situations.
“We did not perform as well as we would have liked,” Allen said. “We could have been 5-0, but instead we finished 2-3.”
Allen said her team tends to get timid late in matches.
“My team gets very tentative once we get over 25 points,” Allen said. “We just need to finish matches.”
Tuesday’s match against William Jewell in Liberty, Mo. proved too much for the ‘Cats, who were defeated by the Cardinals 3-0.
A bright spot for the Wildcats was the play of sophomore Jayde Allen. Allen, a Topeka native, was named libero of the week in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
