Remembering Jeremy Portlock

Director of Physical Plant and Facility Operation Jeremy Portluck passed away on June 23, 2018.

Baker University Director of Physical Plant and Facility Operation Jeremy Portlock died on June 23 at the age of 40. Portlock was an esteemed Baker employee who worked in the Facilities and Operation Department on campus.

His responsibilities on campus ranged from keeping students and faculty safe during severe weather conditions by sending precautionary emails to managing the grounds of Baker’s campus. Portlock cared about the campus located in Baldwin City and was dedicated to his job.

Beginning his work in 2003, Portlock eventually held the position of Director of Physical Plants and Facility and Operations for more than 10 years.

In 2005, the same year Portlock married his wife, Angela, the Physical Plant and Facility Operations Director obtained his Master’s of Business Administration from Baker University. Portlock is survived by his wife Angela and their three children, Kaleb, Kennedy and Katie.

The memorial service took place at First United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, on July 3 and was followed by a burial service in Worden. The reception following the services took place in Collins House from noon to 2 p.m.
