Greatness is coming to Baker in the form of the Negro League Baseball Museum’s traveling exhibit.
From May 17 to June 20, the Holt-Russell Gallery in Parmenter Hall will feature the”Discover Greatness” exhibit, which honors baseball’s involvement in the Civil Rights movement.
“What our students here at Baker can learn from this is that they also have greatness in themselves,” head baseball coach Phil Hannon said. “If these men could overcome so much in their time, then students now can overcome anything.”
More than 900 action photographs dating from the 1900s to 1947, when Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier, will be open to the public. A throwback re-enactment game will be held May 31 at Sauder Field, followed by the Baker University Wildcat Wood Bat Invitational June 10-13.
"This is a chance to see history in an active way," Associate Athletic Director Theresa Yetmar said.<br/>&#160;
