Senior Erin Falter’s experience with Baker’s BOOK program was valuable. Literally.
BOOK, which stands for Baker Observations for Organizational Knowledge, is a program developed by the business department that offers students the chance to give presentations on summer internships and compete for cash prizes.
Falter won the competition for her presentation on her internship with Underground Vaults and Storage in Hutchinson, Kan., and walked away with $1,500.
“It was amazing,” she said. “My internship was wonderful. The way the program was structured, it helped facilitate questions I could ask the company, so I got a lot out of it.”
Junior Krista Yaktine snagged second place out of the five students who participated and won $1,000.
“The presentations took a little bit of leg work to put the presentation together,” she said. “But it was a great opportunity to get out of your comfort level and talk to some high-level employees and managers within the company.”
