Weekend full of competition for dance and cheer
The Baker University Dance and Cheer teams had a very busy weekend with three competitions over three days.
Dance and Cheer started their weekend in Olathe, Kan. on Fri. Jan. 31 with a competition at MidAmerica Nazarene University in the MNU Invitational.
The Wildcat dance team came away from the invitational placing first out of five teams with a score of 78.15. Cheer finished in fifth place.
The teams then returned to Baker University to perform at the Baker Classic held at the Collins Center on Sat. Feb. 1. The Baker Classic has become a very well-respected competition with a lot of the country’s top teams coming to compete.
Dance placed third out of eight teams against a strong field of competition in the Baker Classic. The Wildcat Cheer team took eighth place in the competition.
The Wildcats then travelled to Atchison, Kan. to compete in the Benedictine Challenge on Sun. Feb. 2. Dance highlighted the event by placing first in the Benedictine Challenge, while cheer took fourth place to round out the weekend.
The Wildcats will continue to work towards their next competition on Feb. 15. in Olathe, Kan. in the Heart of America Conference Championships.
