The offense of William Jewell College was too much for the Baker University women’s soccer team, as the ‘Cats lost 1-0 Wednesday.
Baker spent much of the game on its own end of the field as the Cardinals’ attack kept coming, head coach Nate Houser said.
“We played defense for most of the game,” he said.
Despite the loss, Houser wasn’t disappointed with the play of his team.
“We played not so bad today,” Houser said. “It could have been a better day, though.”
On Sunday the Wildcats traveled to Canton, Mo., to play Culver-Stockton College. Baker tied the game 1-1.
Brumit said the play of the Wildcats was not up to par.
“We weren’t ready for the game on Sunday,” Brumit said. “We weren’t really prepared to play. We didn’t give a good effort.”
Houser wasn’t as critical of the team’s play.
“We didn’t bring our best play in the first half, but we played pretty well in the second half and overtime,” Houser said.
The only goal of the game for the Wildcats came from junior forward Whitney Rinck, a native of Lee’s Summit, Mo.
The Wildcats (3-3-2) will next face Central Methodist University at 2 p.m. Saturday in Baldwin City.
