Last week, Baldwin City made street changes and stop signs adjustments, which are now located at Sixth and Dearborn streets, instead of at Sixth and Chapel streets near Gessner Hall.
The change will look similar to the four-way stop at the intersection of Eighth and Dearborn streets.
“The signs had been there for a long time,” city administrator Jeff Dingman said, “mainly because of the primary school being there.”
Dingman said the stop signs were moved toward Dearborn to where students can benefit from them.
“It’s mainly to help with pedestrian traffic,” Dingman said.
Because the elementary school is no longer in session near the intersection, Dingman said changes could be made without endangering the safety of the public.
“It surprises people because it’s always been there,” Dingman said. “It’s a little change, but people will adjust.”
