The Baker Wildcat football team has seen their last two games get postponed due to safety measures regarding COVID-19. This also comes after the first two games of the season were postponed for the Wildcats.

At this point, the Wildcats have only been able to play two of their six scheduled games.

However, the Wildcats have taken full advantage of the chances they have been able to take the field, outscoring their opponents 98-5 to maintain their 2-0 record.

Quarterback Marco Aguinaga does not believe that the postponements have altered the on field performance by the Wildcats.

In order to stay prepared to play, Aguinaga emphasized that he and the team focus on getting better everyday in order to be ready to play on any given day. This involves practicing consistently to improve mentally and physically before each game.

As the Wildcats go into their next game without playing for the past two weeks, Aguinaga explained that the team continues to stay motivated throughout the cancellations.

“We focus on practicing game speed so that we don’t lose that game-like factor,” Aguinaga said. “Everyone will for sure be excited to play this next game but I think it’s like every other Saturday, we’re excited to play no matter the circumstances.”

The Wildcats will look to benefit off of their preparation as they get back on track against Missouri Valley College at Liston Stadium on Sat. Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. Missouri Valley College has also seen postponements to their season and currently have a 1-2 record before traveling to take on the undefeated Wildcats.
