Students in Jo Anne Gibson-Lucas’ Communicating in Groups and Teams class are getting the opportunity to learn and apply many real-world applications.
“We’re learning the essentials of communication,” senior Alex Skov said. “It’s given me more insight about how to insert myself in a group, which is a skill you can use the rest of your life. We’re going to have to know how to network.”
Gibson-Lucas has constructed the class around one comprehensive research project with four groups covering topics about issues within the IT department and the role of the Student Senate, to the administration’s communication about tuition increases and attendance policies.
Skov’s group focused attention on evaluating the efficiency of the attendance policy, both at Baker and at surrounding schools, through surveys to both students and teachers.
