Men’s Basketball wins first game against Kansas Christian

Baker men’s basketball started the season off with a win against Kansas Christian College with a final score of 87-80.

The game lead alternated between teams, giving each team the lead on multiple occasions. Baker got 40 total rebounds to Kansas Christian’s 27 rebounds. Offensively, the Wildcats barely trailed behind shooting on average 36 percent and the Falcons at 41.4 percent.

Baker’s top scorers of the night were Sophomore Kobe Buffalomeat with 23 points, Junior Jalen Patterson with 18 points and Senior Michael Brooks with 11 points.

The Wildcats had an early lead in the game but fell off when the Falcons went on a hot streak of three-pointers creating a 12 point lead making the score 37-25. By the end of the half Baker was able to close down the difference with a score of 46-44.

The lead went back and forth between the two teams throughout the second half with an intense 75-76 score with 5 minutes left in the game and the Falcons leading. Baker was able to extend and hold their lead coming away with the win.

Baker is 1-0 on the season and will play again on Nov. 3 at Collins Center at 7:30 p.m.
