The women’s basketball team’s three-game winning streak ended Tuesday at the hands of the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes, 67-59.
Washburn transfer Emily Gibson again led the way for the ‘Cats, tallying 20 points and eight rebounds. Brittany Hines was second on the team with 15 points and two steals.
Kansas Wesleyan jumped out of the gate and took a 15-point lead into halftime. The Wildcats were unable to close the gap as the Coyotes shot nearly 45 percent from the field. Guards Jamie Alexander and Shelby Babcock both went 3-6 from 3-point range.
“They just didn’t miss in the first half,” junior Audrey Bryant said. “We tried hard to fight back but it just seemed like none of our shots would fall.”
The loss moves the Wildcats to 3-3 on the season. The squad travels Friday to Columbia College.
