Baker Baseball wins three out of four against Park University.
The Baker Wildcat baseball team just finished up a four-game series against the 18-14 Park University Pirates. Going into the series, Baker was 20-19 and 11-9 in conference play. Baker was also on a hot streak going into the series-winning five in a row leading into game one of the series.
Game one of the series was on April 15 with Baker winning 5-4. Park led for most of the game, but in the fourth inning, Baker got four runs driven in by Senior Jackson Rehkow and Junior John Raybourn. Rehkow got the winning run driven in later in the fifth, after hitting a single.
In-Game two of the series, Baker also won by one winning 6-5. The offense came alive early in this game as in the third inning Raybourn hit a two-run home run and Senior Brian Hawkins hit another one to make it 4-0. Park started to come back after a 3-run fifth, but Baker was able to stop the comeback attempt to win.
In-game three of the series the Wildcats lost 12-9 as the Park bats woke up after 3 innings of only having one hit. During the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings Park scored 11 runs to end the Wildcat’s winning streak of eight in a row, which is tied for the school record. Baker tried to come back in the bottom of the seventh putting up six runs, but could not continue the rally after Park’s closer came in.
In game four of the series, the Wildcats won 8-2 winning the series. Baker got six innings from Sophomore Christian Spitz as well as home runs from Junior Jared Parenti, John Raybourn, and Senior Blaine Ray to take the series 3-1.
This series leaves Baker with a record of 23-20 overall, and 14-10 in-conference, going into their next series against Evangel next week on April 22 and April 23.
