Comedian Morgan Jay provides midterm break for students

The Student Activities Council hosted viral comedian and musician Morgan Jay in Rice Auditorium on Oct. 4.

Jay has visited Baker’s campus one other time in the past and has been a huge hit with students. Although the crowd was small, there were lots of audience participation during the performance. Jay sang a few songs with help from the audience. Some of the crowd’s favorites were “Emotional Damage” and “Friend Zone”, both written by Jay.

“I always like when it’s a little more personal, which is easier here since we have a smaller campus,” senior Taylor McEachron said.

The 35-year-old comedian has a large following on social media and touched on losing a ton of followers in a month. He talked about how that affected him in one of his songs and in some of his stand-up material. In an unnamed song, he reminded students that the likes and follows is not what makes you a good person in another unnamed song.

Jay stuck around after the show was over to take photos with SAC members and students who were in the audience, as well as talk about upcoming songs and shows.

“It was very entertaining,” McEachron said. “Much better than getting some homework done, in my opinion.”
