Freshman Jacob Nowak came away with a second-place finish at the Missouri Open Nov. 22 in Columbia, Mo.
Twenty-two Baker University wrestlers traveled to the competition that hosted NCAA Division I athletes.
“It was our first real tough tournament this year,” Nowak said. “It was a good test for me.”
Nowak, a 184-pound wrestler, said he started the day with some nerves, but those quickly disappeared after his first match. He was a little surprised to do so well in the competition.
After a three-week hiatus, Baker University’s wrestling team will be hitting the mats Dec. 12 at the Loper Open at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
"It's going to be another tough tournament," Nowak said." But, I'm feeling pretty good after doing so well in the Missouri Open."<br/>&#160;
