The Baker women’s bowling team competed in its final tournament of 2009 last Friday and Saturday at the National Team Match Games in Fairview Heights, Ill.
Several NCAA Division I schools participated in the National Team Match Games, including Wichita State University, which Baker also faced earlier in the season at the Mid-States Tournament.
“It definitely is a gauge to go by to know that some of these girls that are playing for Wichita State are going to probably bowl professionally,” senior Lauren Yonkey said.
The squad will have one more tournament to wrap up the inaugural season in February. The team will begin practicing for the February tournament in January.
Yonkey is the lone senior on the squad, so the majority of the team should return for the program’s second season.
“I think it’s going to be really great for the program to have that many come back for multiple years,” Yonkey said.
