One of the newest establishments in Baldwin City, Kan., is opening its doors specifically to college students.
The Baldwin City Beer Company, BCBC for short, hosts College Night starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays each week. During these events, they offer many deals to students, which include drink specials, pickleball, and food.
Owner Cory Venable started College Nights because the brewery was built with college students in mind.
Venable wanted to cater to both the restaurant crowd and the college crowd in his restaurant. To do this, the restaurant shifts into a pub when Baker students arrive for the evening. The lights dim, the game is on, and the bar is full.
“I would like to be so appealing to Baker students that no one has to drive to Lawrence for a night out ever again. The idea is that people can make big town memories right next door,” Venable said.
Venable also hopes to incorporate new events in the coming weeks. Such as a new pool league, late night food, Tuesday trivia nights, live music, karaoke, and more.
The BCBC just recently added pickleball during College Night, as well as on Sundays. According to their Instagram, college students and patrons can rent a court for $20 an hour with the additional fee for paddles.
By putting out weekly specials, the BCBC is continuing to expand with online ordering coming soon.
The BCBC is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on College Nights.
