Collins Library is continually making new updates to the creative spaces offered to students.
In 2023, the staff at the Collins Library created the iLab as a “third place to relax and study” for all students, said Librarian Melanie Massey. The iLab changes its activities every semester, and this time a Lego Wall and bracelet making station were added.
“We wrote a Vibrant Classroom grant and used the grant from Bob Irby to build a Lego wall with 70 Lego plates,” Massey said.
Students are always encouraged to take advantage of all of Collins Library’s creative spaces.
Along with the iLab, students can enjoy any of the study rooms, or study spaces offered.
“Students love the privacy and peace of the five study rooms and the innovative environment of the iLab,” Massey said.
Other activities in the iLab include air dry pottery clay, sewing machines, a paper crafting station, a 3D printer and more.
“We want to continue to provide opportunities for students to use these spaces for academic success, bibliotherapy and wellness,” Massey said.
The staff at Collins Library welcomes any student ideas and input for ways to improve the student spaces.
