This year marks the 67th annual Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin City. Maple Leaf was started by Dr. Charles Doudna, Bill Horn, Leo Smith and C.R. Whitley. Originally the festival was just a small event for the people around Baldwin to celebrate the community. Now in 2025 Maple Leaf is bringing around 30,000 to 40,000 visitors for just one weekend. Baldwin City has a little under 5,000 current residents, not including Baker students.
During Maple Leaf you can expect to see many interesting events including: 300 craft and food booths, a 5K and kid’s run, the 52nd annual Quilt Show, the parade, historic bus tours and much more.
As well as bringing in a lot of people, Maple Leaf has a lot of financial benefits for Baldwin City. Through tourism revenue, funding local non-profits and helping local businesses.
Maple Leaf doesn’t just benefit Baldwin City, but also the Baker University students, different organizations and Greek Chapter houses will sell parking, though there may be limited free parking on some streets.
Whether you’re a student, Baldwin City local or a visitor, everyone is welcome and there is always something to do during Maple Leaf Festival, for more information visit mapleleaffestival.com.
