The Baker women’s basketball team put its second loss of the season on the board when the team fell 67-55 to Friends University Nov. 25.
The ‘Cats were down by seven points at halftime and were unable to make up the lost ground in the second half.
Sophomore Aubree Gustin led the team knocking in 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Standout freshman Gloria Atanmo followed grabbing 15 boards and putting up nine points. Head coach Susan Decker said the team lacks defensive intensity, which led to several uncontested baskets.
“We didn’t defend the three-point shot very well,” Decker said. “Friends shot the ball extremely well, especially in the first half, and we had trouble defending the three-point shot.”
This loss came just days after a close call win against Southwestern College. Finishing the second half tied at 63-63, the ‘Cats took the victory outscoring Southwestern in overtime 14-4 and taking the final score to 77-67.
The ‘Cats will go head to head with Lindenwood University at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Collins Center.
