On only the second week of competition, Baker’s Dance team has kicked off their season with a bang. This past week, Kadee Ellis took the title of Heart of America Dancer of the Week. Ellis is starting her junior season with a lot of momentum that she wants to continue for herself and her team.
“I think a lot of it, individual scoring, just comes down to when you get out on that floor. You can tell who is helping pull the team. I am always cheering my teammates on the floor and trying to help them remember the last night’s changes we made. I think it’s also a lot of putting in the work outside of practice and really being committed,” she said.
While Ellis is happy that she was given this title, she doesn’t go without mentioning how above and beyond the team is going this year. So far, they have competed in two competitions and placed second as a team for both. Having a dancer who is named Heart Dancer of the week, the effort these girls are putting in is phenomenal, as we see their work ethic.
“We talk about one percent better every day,” Ellis said. “[We make] sure at competition it is at least one percent better, and we are one percent prouder of what we put on that floor every time.”
You can watch the Baker Dance team next week at the Viking Challenge on Sunday, Feb. 15, and at Baker for the Baker Classic on Saturday, Feb. 21.
