The game was not as pretty as head coach Mike Grossner would have liked, but the Wildcats came away with a 23-12 victory over Graceland University to improve to 4-4 on the season.

“I felt like we had pretty good total control in the first half and we came out in the second half and tried to work on our passing game a little bit and we’re not clicking there yet,” Grossner said.

BU got out to an early lead by tackling Graceland special team player Colton Adamson in the endzone for a safety, after the snap of a Graceland punt went over the punter’s head.

The Wildcats added on to their lead with rushing touchdowns from freshmen Scott Meyer and Aaron Terrill to take a 16-0 advantage going into halftime.

The Baker defense had even more success in stopping Graceland’s running game. BU held Graceland to -11 rushing yards on 34 carries.

The defense was led senior Matt Brock and junior Adam Steele. Brock had 13 tackles and two sacks and Steele had 12 tackles, along with a sack and a forced fumble.

Baker will take on William Jewell College at 2 p.m. Saturday in Liberty, Mo., to try to extend its winning streak to three games.
