If this fall was any indication, the women’s golf team could be in store for a special spring.
Having won two of its last three tournaments, including Tuesday’s against Heart of America opponents, the Wildcats are confident going into their regular season.
“I think it gives us good motivation for the spring,” senior Amelia Harshfield said. “Even though we did win by 30 strokes, the tournament gave us some things we needed to work on.”
The ‘Cats utterly dominated their competition Tuesday at the Missouri Valley Invitational, beating the next closest team, Avila University, 731-764.
Junior Krista Yaktine led the team with scores of 90 and 86, which was good enough for third place overall. Sophomore Stacy Yowell and junior Dani Weimholt rounded out the Baker top three with two-round scores of 180 and 183, respectively.
“It was windy both days,” Harshfield said. “It played an effect on the back nine. You know it’s windy when chipping and putting are even affected.”
