The Baker University women’s soccer team beat Park University 4-3 in overtime Friday in Parkville, Mo.
Park scored 19 minutes into the game and once more before halftime to take a 2-0 lead.
“We didn’t start off as hard as we should have, but after halftime we really came out and played a solid second half and overtime and came back to win,” senior Ashley Ukena said.
Freshman Alexa Fryer scored less than two minutes after the second half started, and then assisted Baker Orange staff member Jordan Dolbin to even up the score 2-2.
Park scored with five minutes left in regulation play, but Baker answered with a goal by senior Alix Schiraldi to keep the score tied less than a minute later. Schiraldi sealed the win with a goal in overtime.
BU dropped 11 spots to No. 16 in the nation after a 2-1 start, but Ukena thinks it will improve each game.
“Our chemistry is starting to get better. With everybody working hard and giving it all we can on the field, it helps bring us together,” Ukena said.
