The Baker University women’s soccer team earned its sixth straight win of the season Tuesday over Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
“It took us a little while into the game to shake off some rust after not playing for nine days,” head coach Nate Houser said. “But by the second half we had sorted things out.”
Baker beat Oklahoma Wesleyan 3 -0 with the help of senior Maggie Dupes, who played 74 of the 90 minutes as the goalkeeper after being cleared from a back injury that sidelined her for three games.
“Having [Dupes] out there with her high energy actually helps to calm the rest of the team down,” Houser said.
Senior Alix Schiraldi and Baker Orange staff member Jordan Dolbin set the pace for BU, but the freshmen have been maturing, too.
“If you expect the freshmen to be able to perform in big games you have to let them get used to the pace of play,” Houser said.
Schiraldi and freshmen Alexa Fryer and Bailey Sosa scored the three goals for the Wildcats.
BU will play its HAAC opener versus Central Methodist University at 3 p.m. Sunday in Fayette, Mo.
