While getting nearly a month off of school for winter break and a full week for Thanksgiving break will be nice next year, going to school until the end of May won’t be.
The 2009-2010 academic calendar was released last week and students were surprised to find that they will be in school until May 20.
Graduating seniors will find themselves drenched in sweat as they walk across the stage May 23.
It seems like the semester is never-ending now, how are we all going to feel next year at this point in time?
Students will find themselves at a disadvantage next May because a number of internships ask that students be ready to work as early as May 1.
Baker students wouldn’t be able to report to work until after finals, which would be May 21.
Dead Days for both semesters also have been factored back into the academic calendar, giving students an extra day to prepare for finals. Plus, Thanksgiving break has been expanded to be a full week, instead of just three days.
These extra days at home with family, or spent studying for finals are going to be great.
But we’re going to be sitting around the dinner table eating Thanksgiving dinner and studying because finals will begin the week we come back.
Overall, the calendar isn’t bad.
But going to school until the end of May is going to be a huge deal.<br/>&#160;
