It’s no secret Baker University has financial troubles.

But those factors didn’t stop alumni, Board of Trustees members, administrators, faculty, staff and students from donating $85,000 while in attendance of the University Gala Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City, Mo.
Andrew and Peggy Cherng of Panda Restaurant Group then donated $50,000.
That’s a total of $135,000 – in a recessed economy.
That’s pretty impressive.
What’s also impressive is Baker University hasn’t lost sight of its students while struggling with finances.
Instead, Baker is giving back to its students with scholarships funded by donations.
It’d be easy for administrators to get swept up in the economics and business side of the institution and forget about the students’ wants and needs, but that’s not happening.
It’d be easy for administrators to ignore students’ concerns, but that’s no happening.
Instead, administrators are working hard to maintain Baker as a university that students want to be a part of.
The university and its administrators are working hard to ensure students will be able to continue to afford the education they are receiving.
Students aren’t being left in the dust while administrators work to fix what has been broken in the past.
Yes, Baker University is in debt, but past and present members of the Baker community continue to show students as their No. 1 priority.
