The Baker University women’s soccer team returned from its weekend road trip without allowing a goal.
Baker easily defeated Missouri Baptist University on Saturday in a 5-0 shutout. Sophomore Alix Schiraldi found the net again – her fourth goal in as many games – during the match.
On Sunday the ‘Cats defeated No. 12 McKendree University 1-0. Senior Christine Janssens scored the lone goal in the match, helping Baker improve to 3-1 overall.
“Janssens got the game off with a very important goal,” head coach Nate Houser said. “The women finally believe they are good enough to compete with top-15 teams.”
Still, Houser expects more out the squad.
"The things we are doing are getting us off to a good start but we are still a work in progress," he said.<br/>&#160;
