Baker University might be welcoming a new scholars program to campus next fall.

Baker is looking to partner with the Kauffman Scholars program, which aids urban students in getting on the path to college graduation.

“They would bring students out to see Baker and hopefully we would get a concentration of Kauffman scholars,” University President Pat Long said. “Most of the students in Kauffman scholars right now are from Kansas City, Mo., Kansas City, Kan., and a high proportion of African American and Hispanic students, and so it certainly would be a wonderful way of us helping increase our diversity here on campus as well.”

Long is still waiting to hear if Baker and the Kauffman Scholars program have reached an agreement in partnership.
