The Baker women’s bowling team made the first of its three trips to Fairview Heights, Ill., and placed 19th out of 21 teams at the S. I. Elite Tournament Saturday.
Head coach Cheryl Keslar said Baker’s top bowlers included sophomore Cailtlin Campbell and freshman Brittany Barker, but the team struggled to hit spares throughout the tournament.
“We’re going to work on hitting the headpin and we’re going to work on our spares,” Keslar said.
Different oil patterns are put down on the lanes at different tournaments, and Baker was not able to practice on the pattern used in the tournament until the day the team left, which caused problems for BU.
“They are getting better, it just was a very, very tough oil pattern to hit,” Keslar said.
