Three straight wins over the weekend propelled the Baker University volleyball team to one game away from the 30-win mark on the season.

The `Cats recorded a HAAC win over Central Methodist University Friday and two non-conference wins over Haskell University and College of the Ozarks Saturday.

The Wildcats, now 29-3 overall and 7-1 in the conference, defeated Central Methodist in three short games, with a standout performance from junior Brooke Pryor. Pryor slammed 18 kills and sophomore Brooke Allen led the defense with 22 digs. Freshman Jana Boss set 32 assists and also had six digs.

Junior Christina Delladio, who totaled nine kills in the contest, said BU didn’t overlook the Eagles.

“I think we just played confident,” Delladio said. “We knew that they weren’t horrible but also weren’t the best, but we couldn’t overlook them because when we overlook teams, we don’t do as well.”

On Saturday, Baker hosted a double dual, prevailing against Haskell University in the first match. The Wildcats dominated in three games, 25-13, 25-14, and 25-20, with strong performances by Delladio and freshman Nichole Kamies, each collecting eight kills.

Sophomore Kelsey Allen also added two service aces for the Wildcats.

Game two of the double dual was much different. The `Cats faced a team that received four votes in the national polls, and stepped their game up to collect an important win. BU won 3-1, with game scores of 26-24, 28-26, 21-25 and 25-18.

Delladio said it was difficult for the team to adjust from the Haskell competition to the College of the Ozarks level of competition, but she was pleased with how the team pulled through.

“I think we did a good job and played really hard, even though we lost track of things in the third game loss,” Delladio said. “We didn’t give up and as a team, each of us contributed equally.”

Pryor led Baker’s offense with 24 kills, followed closely behind by Delladio with 13. Brooke Allen totaled an impressive 37 digs, and Boss set up 49 assists. Both Delladio and Kelsey Allen added two service aces to lead the team.

Baker will take on William Jewell College at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Collins Center. The Cardinals are No. 6 in the HAAC, and Baker will enter the game, just behind Lindenwood University, at No. 2 in the standings. <br/>
