The Baker University men’s and women’s cross country teams placed fifth and third respectively Saturday at the Mid-States Classic in Winfield, and have a weekend off to prepare for the HAAC Championships.
The ‘Cats will host the meet Nov. 6 at Baldwin City Golf Course to attempt to qualify for the NAIA Nationals meet in Vancouver, Wash.
Sophomore Aaron Caldwell has high expectations for the meet.
“We have the home field advantage, which is huge,” Caldwell said. “This is the course we train on, like, almost every other day. Both teams are really, really shooting to win conference.”
Caldwell thinks BU’s tightly knit squads gives the team an advantage.
“Everyone has got to be fighting for every meter,” Caldwell said. “Because they know they’re going to give it all, not just for themselves but for the other runners on our team.”
