In a career that already has a long list of accomplishments attached, junior Ashlee Miller is now looking to make history.
Miller has qualified for nationals all three years and qualified for nationals this indoor season by winning the high jump at the first meet of the season, the Graceland Invitational.
“The first time I saw her compete or saw her actually at a practice, I knew that she was going to be something special in the sport of track and field,” coach Zach Kindler said.
Miller is a two-time All-American, earning All-American honors in the heptathlon in the 2008 outdoor season, and in the long jump in the 2008 indoor season.
Now, Miller is looking to become a national champion, and should she accomplish this, she would be the first female national champion in Baker University history.
Along with winning numerous events, Miller has her name next to several Baker records. Miller is the outdoor record holder in the 400-meter dash, which she accomplished in 2007, as well as being a part of 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams that hold outdoor Baker records.
“I do track and field because I love it,” Miller said. “I don’t really need to have a lot of fame or I don’t really necessarily want people to remember me for doing this or that. I just want people to remember me for the person who I am and how much I love track and field.”
If she achieves her goal she better get used to the fame—National Champions are definitely monument-worthy.
