Sophomores Paul Eltschinger, Katherine Dick and Patrick King traveled to Fort Collins, Colo., Friday and Saturday to participate in the National Association of Teachers of Singing, or NATS, competition.
The competition was for the West-Central region and about 500 soloists performed from four states.
The preliminaries were Friday, with the semifinals and finals Saturday. Eltschinger placed fourth in his division.
“I was really happy with how Paul placed and it was really unfortunate that (Dick) … got sick the night before semi’s,” King said.
Eltschinger said he was nervous before the competition because he was also not feeling well.
“I was a little worried. I had a sinus infection,” Eltschinger said. “Somehow, I pulled it out of somewhere and ended up doing all right.”
