Espress Yourself coffee shop will be having its grand reopening from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Crystal and Jason Camis have been the new owners of the coffee shop since Feb. 1.
Crystal Camis said the grand reopening will be a day filled with prizes and samples of food.
“We are going to have samples of new food items we are going to test out before we actually put them on the menu. We will be giving away raffles for merchandise and products,” she said. “We will even have some kid activities such as face painting.”
If the weather is nice, Camis said some activities may be available outside, but the majority of the events will be taking place inside the shop.
New sample coffees will be provided and there will be 20 percent discount off all foods and drinks on the menu.
Camis said since the shop is under new management, some changes will be made.
“We are trying to get new equipment in so it will be more efficient for the customers so they don’t have to wait,” she said. “The fun part is we are getting to bring in a new menu.”
Camis said she and her husband, Jason Camis, still have their full-time jobs outside of the coffee shop. She said her husband is the tourism director for Franklin County and she works for the Women’s Transitional Care Services in Lawrence. Camis said she and her husband are at the shop mostly evenings and Saturdays.
Camis said her husband always wanted to own his own food orientated business.
“We loved the space; we thought it was super cool and we really love Baldwin,” she explained. “But especially with his job we have to live in Franklin County, but the commute is really nice just 15 minutes to get here. We know a lot of folks here in Baldwin so its been a good transition.”
She said she and her husband are not planning to make any significant changes to shop.
“It is always going to be a coffee shop. I know a lot of people were concerned about the coffee shop going away. With Jason’s background with a lot of food services, he is really interested in starting to provide bigger lunches, maybe even some breakfast items,” she said. “We are also tossing around the idea of possibly opening up on Sundays.” she said.
Camis said some of her personal talents may be shown in the coffee shop, such as homemade candles.
“I may start bringing those into the shop, but once we get more settled we will bring in more baked goods,” she said.
Camis said the coffee shop will continue with the Friday night concerts through the end of May.
“Originally, the past owners didn’t have the concerts in the summer, but we are tossing around the idea of maybe having music in the summer, but maybe on Saturday nights.” she said.
In addition to the Friday night concerts, Espress Yourself will also be catering.
“Along with the new catering services, we also rent out the shop. We actually have a wedding reception on Sunday here … If people are interested we have a price system depending on the event,” she said.
Charity Middlemas, employee, said she thinks the new management will be successful and that they are making positive changes in the new advancements.
