Parents, student artists, and even those who have never picked up a paintbrush filled the Holt Russell Gallery Oct. 29.
Discussion about the surrounding paintings, pottery and photographs brought attention to the impact of the featured student artwork.
“It isn’t just a wall of paintings,” senior Eric Riggs said. “There’s an array of work that’s eclectic and well-composed. It just shows that there’s a lot of talent on this campus.”
For senior Tonia Johnson, whose collection of artwork spanned an entire wall, the show provided the opportunity to include community members in her artistic journey. Johnson’s artwork exhibited a year’s worth of paintings, collages and pottery.
“Art is emotional, and kind of spiritual for me,” Johnson said. “It’s a chance to share part of myself.”
