Raising awareness is not an easy thing to do.
It’s not something that can be done overnight and it’s not something that can be done by only one person.
Raising awareness is difficult.
It takes time and it takes a large group of people to make it possible.
Students, staff and faculty at Baker University, however, make raising awareness possible.
This year, groups on campus have gone above and beyond what they've done in the past.<br/>They aren't just hosting measly little events. They aren't hosting events that only bring out a few participants or attendees.They aren't just hosting measly little events. Instead, groups are hosting weeklong events that really make a difference. They are hosting events that bring out tons of students, staff and faculty. They’re hosting events that matter.
Just this semester, organizations have hosted events like Banned Books Week to raise awareness about banned books.
We’ve had Active Minds raise awareness about the mentally ill.
We’ve had the Cardinal Key Honor Society raise awareness about hunger and homelessness.
We’ve had Mungano raise awareness about Black History Month.
And, we’ve had the Gay-Straight Alliance raise awareness about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issue.
Of course, that’s not all campus organizations have done to raise awareness, but those few examples just go to show how much they’re getting involved, and the involvement isn’t over.
These acts of raising awareness aren’t just focusing on the usual issues either – they’re focusing on what really matters. They’re focusing on the issues that are difficult to talk about.
This year, campus organizations have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
They’ve made students listen.
They’ve made a difference.
They’ve raised awareness.
