The Baker track teams went up against tough conference competition as they competed Saturday at the Central Methodist University Invitational.
The women grabbed a fifth-place finish overall, while the men’s team took third.
Junior Mary Loveland led the way on the track placing first in the 3,000-meter steeple chase with a time of 12 minutes, 4.06 seconds. On the field, junior Aubree Gustin took first in the javelin and senior Kayla Irwin grabbed a victory in the pole vault.
On the men’s side, the 4×100-meter relay team, seniors Aaron Hannon and Kome Okiomah, sophomore J.L. Anderson and freshman Reggie Harris broke the school record the team set just last weekend with a time of 41.54 seconds.
Both teams are competing at the Kansas Relays Friday, which will finish up Saturday.
“We are just trying to keep up with the competition over there,” Okiomah said. “It’s a very competitive meet.”
