Students and faculty have been advised to take precautions to prepare for the impending flu season, which includes receiving a seasonal flu shot.
Ruth Sarna, director of student health services, said she received 120 doses of the shot. The Student Health Center has approximately 30 doses left. The shots are $15 for students and $20 for faculty and staff.
“We were lucky to get our supply,” Sarna said. “A lot of colleges are still waiting on the pharmaceutical companies.”
Sarna said she has asked for 500 doses of the new H1N1 vaccine, but the number she will receive depends on how many doses the county receives. Sarna said she hopes the vaccines will be here at the end of October or the beginning of November
Those shots will be free for everyone on campus.
She said students should get their seasonal flu vaccination because not all students are not used to living in a communal situation where germs are spread easily.
