Around the world, companies are performing illegal extractions of gas, oil and various other resources. As a result, the communities surrounding these sites are losing both their livelihoods and their rights to land.

In an effort to generate support for the affected communities, Students for Globally-based Initiatives invited Solinn Lim, regional program officer for Oxfam America, to speak in support of pending legislation that requires the partnership of the community, government and company.

The seminar is scheduled for 8 p.m., Monday, in Mabee 100.
