The Gay-Straight Alliance group is busy making plans to involve the Baker community in proactive events that will promote acceptance and social justice for all lifestyles.
GSA president Meghan Gabel said its first public meeting was Sept. 18. She was impressed with the number of people who attended.
Gabel said the organization meets at 3:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Friday of every month.
Gabel said the group is looking forward to annual events such as the day of silence in the spring. They are also hoping to get a group together to view a showing of “The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later,” and a film about the murder of Matthew Shepard.
“Our goal is to just basically create a safe environment for all students regardless of sexuality and break the heterosexual norm,” Gabel said.
