God truly is everywhere.
He’s even on Facebook.
I happened to come across His “fan” page the other night while I was online.
Was I surprised someone had come along and created a page for people to “like” God?
No.
Considering the fact you can pretty much like anything from Lady Gaga to SpongeBob SquarePants, both of which I happen to “like,” it’s really no surprise God has a Facebook page.
But what did surprise me was the fact that, of the nearly 3.5 million people who are His “fans” on Facebook, some of the comments on His wall were not characteristic of a true fan of God.
Now, a lot of people do write Bible verses on His wall, probably verses they find to be very inspirational.
Others post quotes of famous Christians, like C.S. Lewis.
But some “fans” do the exact opposite.
For example, one man posted six comments in two minutes, listing off a bunch of quotes about how faith, especially in God, is pretty much a waste of time.
Sure, we have free speech in America. We don’t have a law banning negative comments on Facebook. But we should at least be respectful of the things people like, even if it is just Facebook.
Would you write on Lady Gaga’s wall that her music is awful and her unique outfits are hideous? Of course you wouldn’t. You would be wrong to say that anyway. Like I said, I’m a hardcore fan of Lady Gaga.
So, why is it okay to do that to God? To purposely become a fan, because that’s the only way you can gain access to writing on His wall, to write hateful things like, “God doesn’t exist” or, “You people are stupid for believing in God.” Who is it helping?
This isn’t like telling your little brother or sister that Santa Claus doesn’t exist.
Religion is an important part of many people’s lives. It helps shape the type of person they are and the type of person they will become. And when you say, “God doesn’t exist,” it’s like you’re saying a part of them doesn’t exist.
And honestly, it doesn’t matter to me if you’re a Christian. It doesn’t matter to me if you’re an Atheist. It doesn’t even matter to me if you’re undecided. But I don’t appreciate people purposely seeking out to hurt others just to prove their point.
After all, we’re all human beings.
We all have feelings.
It’s just plain immature to bash people’s likes out of spite.
Grow up, please.
