Head tennis coach Bruce Anderson is leaving Baker to become the Associate Professor of Political Science at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla.
University President Pat Long announced Anderson’s departure Tuesday and the university reported the search for the new coach will begin Friday.
Anderson has been a part of the Baker tennis program since 2004 and coached both the men’s and women’s team this year.
The main reason Anderson is leaving Baker is because his teaching position has been eliminated next year due to budget cuts.
While Anderson is sad to be leaving Baker, he is also very excited to teach at Florida Southern.
“The students at Baker are incomparable,” Anderson said. “I can’t think of a time that my students or my athletes have ever let me down.”
