The price of internship rates has increased from $150 a credit hour to $200 a credit hour for the summer.

“For a long time, it was at the full tuition rate,” Susan Wade, director of Career Development Center, said.

Internship rates used to be $375 a credit hour, which is the full summer tuition rate, but a few years ago it was reduced to $150. When the catalog for 2010 summer classes was released, the price per credit hour for internship rates had been increased to $375 again.

“I’m assuming that what happened was that they started looking at just all of the expenses because we’re so tight on budget,” Wade said.

Wade and others petitioned the administration to bring the cost back down so more students could afford to do an internship during the summer, and the rate was lowered to $200.

Wade said the CDC is still encouraging students to do internships this summer.

"I think (the cost is) something that students can more than likely work with," she said.<br/>
