Students at Up ‘til Dawn took part in sending letters to friends and family in hopes of raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Teams were asked to fill out 35 letters. Last year, the letters brought in about $14,000 but this year’s goal is to reach $28,000.

“People cared enough to spend their Friday night with us,” Rachel Walkowiak, Up ‘til Dawn assistant director, said.

The night began with team registration in the Harter Union cafeteria and then participants spent about two hours filling out letters.  A video shown to participants explained where raised money will go and what St. Jude is about.

Students went to Collins Center for entertainment, where an inflatable game, sports, movies, a band, food and a drawing took place.

Gift cards from the community, Kansas City Royals tickets and a Wii gaming console were raffled off to those who filled out 35 letters.
