Assistant Professor of Sociology Jacob Bucher received the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Junior Faculty Award at the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences conference in San Diego at the end of February.
Bucher applied for the award and was notified last semester.
“It’s nice to be recognized for good or hard work, and the fact that a national organization is doing the recognizing is pretty cool,” Bucher said in an e-mail. “Teaching is often a thankless job, but one that I love, so to have important people in your discipline tell you that you’re doing good things is reassuring, and not to mention a nice little pick-me-up.”
Between 55 and 60 professors from all over the county applied for the award, with 13 professors receiving the award. Professors who are non-tenured faculty and have less than five years experience in the profession were eligible.<br/>&#160;
