The Phi Mu Fraternity National Council rejected the appeal to overturn the decision to permanently suspend operations of the Zeta Alpha chapter at Baker University.

The women of the chapter appealed the suspension May 8, however the national headquarters notified them Sunday of the final verdict.

“I would like to thank the chapter members for their thoughtful and professional appeal. I know they are disappointed and I appreciate their cooperation with the National Fraternity throughout this difficult process.  I wish all Zeta Alpha members, well as alumnae members of Phi Mu Fraternity,” said National President Kris Bridges in a press release from Phi Mu national headquarters Monday.

The chapter will cease operations Sunday and all active members in good standing will be granted alumnae status.

“It is the hope of the National Council as well as the (Zeta Alpha) alumna that Phi Mu will be able to return to Baker’s campus in the future,” said Phi Mu president Dannie Harris in an email to the Baker community Monday morning.

The national headquarters of Phi Mu is still determining what will happen to the Phi Mu house.

Current members of the Zeta Alpha chapter declined to comment.
